The Health Professions Education Foundation is changing application deadlines. Every program will have one deadline a year. The March 24 deadline will only accept loan repayment applications and the September 11 deadline will only accept scholarship applications.
March 24 Deadline

For Scholarship Applications

March 24 Deadline:
- Licensed Vocational Nurse Loan Repayment Program (LVNLRP)
LVN graduates may only apply. Loan repayments are available to graduates who are licensed vocational nurses and currently employed in a medically underserved area providing direct patient care. Loan Repayments are available up to $6,000 for a two-year service obligation. - Bachelor of Science Nursing Loan Repayment Program (BSNLRP)
BSN graduates only. Bachelor of Science Nursing Loan Repayment Programs are accepted biannually and repay up to $19,000 in educational loans for expenses related to the recipient's education (i.e., principal, interest, and related expenses for tuition, and educational expenses) that was incurred while attending a baccalaureate degree nursing program. Awardees will be required to practice as a RN in a MUA for two (2) to four (4) years by providing direct patient care on a full-time basis (40 hours per week or its equivalent). Loan repayment awards are available to currently licensed RNs who are currently practicing in a medically MUA. - Licensed Mental Health Services Provider Education Program (LMHSPEP)
Loan repayment awards of up to $15,000 may be awarded in exchange for a two-year service obligation in a qualified facility. Eligible mental health providers include Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Associate Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Marriage and Family Therapy Interns, Licensed Psychologists, Registered Psychologists, Postdoctoral Psychological Assistants and Postdoctoral Psychological Trainees. - Health Professions Loan Repayment Program (HPLRP)
Priority will be given to those in the following professions: Certified Nurse Midwifery, Dental Hygienists, Dentists, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and Clinical Nurse Specialists graduates may only apply. The Health Professions Education Loan Repayment repays up to $20,000 in educational debt that was incurred while attending a health professional program. Both awards carry a two-year service obligation. - Steven M. Thompson Physician Corp Loan Repayment Program (STLRP)
New Application Deadline! Submit your application before August 1, 2011. Licensed physicians may only apply. Loan repayment awards of up to $105,000 are available to physicians who hold a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in California. Priority will be given to those applicants who have completed a three-year postgraduate residency in the areas of family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics, or obstetrics/gynecology. - Orange County Pediatric Specialties Loan Repayment Program (OCPLRP)
Loan repayment awards up to $125,000 in exchange for a 3-year service obligation at a qualified facility within Orange County. Loan repayment awards are available to physicians who hold a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in California or physicians who have applied for a license to practice medicine in California with a certification by a member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties in a pediatric sub-specialty. Priority consideration will be given to applicants with pediatric subspecialty certifications in pediatric neurology and/or pediatric pulmonology.
September 11 Deadline:
- Allied Healthcare Scholarship (AHS)
Priority will be given to students accepted or enrolled into Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Assistant, Medical Imaging, Medical Laboratory Technology, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Pharmacy Technician, Physical Therapy, Physical Therapy Assistant, Radiation Therapy Technology, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Care, Social Work, Speech Therapy, Surgical Technician, and Ultrasound Technician. Other allied health professions may apply. Scholarships are up to $4,000 for a one year service obligation or 100 volunteer hours. - Vocational Nurse Scholarship (VN)
Scholarships are available to students accepted or enrolled into an accredited California vocational nursing program approved by the Board of Vocational Nurse. Scholarships are available up to $4,000 for a two-year service obligation. - Licensed Vocational Nurse to Associate Degree Nursing Scholarships (LVN to ADN)
LVN graduates may apply concurrently to the Foundation's Associate Degree Nursing Scholarship, and if rejected, may then apply for this scholarship. Scholarships are available to students who are licensed vocational nurses and are accepted or enrolled into an accredited California registered nursing program approved by the Board of Registered Nurse. Scholarships are available up to $8,000 for a two-year service obligation. - Associate Degree Nursing Scholarship (ADN)
Students who are currently enrolled or accepted into an Associate Degree Nursing Program may receive up to $10,000 for one academic year. In return for receiving an Associate Degree Nursing Scholarship, awardees must agree to practice direct patient care for two years in a medically undeserved area of California. - Bachelor of Science Nursing Scholarship (BSN)
Awardees will be required to practice as a RN in a medically underserved area for a minimum of two (2) years by providing direct patient care on a full-time basis (40 hours per week). Bachelor of Science Scholarship Programs are accepted biannually and students may receive up to $13,000 for one (1) academic year. - Health Professions Education Scholarship (HPSP)
Priority will be given to those in the following professions: Certified Nurse Midwifery, Dental Hygienists, Dentists, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and Clinical Nurse Specialists students. Students may receive up to $10,000 for the Health Professions Education Scholarship.

Mental Health Loan Assumption Program (MHLAP)
The following Registered or Licensed professionals are eligible to apply: Psychologists, Marriage and Family Therapists, Clinical Social Workers, Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners, as well as Postdoctoral Psychological Assistants and Trainees. Qualified applicants must work in the public mental health system and be employed in a hard to fill position. Loan repayments are up to $10,000 for a one-year service obligation. - State Nursing Assumption Program of Loans for Education for Nursing Faculty (SNAPLE NF)
This program is intended to encourage students to complete a baccalaureate or graduate degree and teach in a nursing program at a regionally accredited college or university in California. The program will pay up to a total of $25,000 on outstanding student loans for nursing faculty. The loan repayment monies are paid over the course of three academic years for students attending school on a full-time or part-time basis (the equivalent of three full-time academic years).
